ERM drives diversity in tech with QUT Undergraduate Scholarship for women
ERM Power is excited to announce applications are open for the ERM Power Undergraduate Scholarship for Women in IT.
The scholarship was created in partnership with QUT’s Science and Engineering Faculty. The program was established in 2019 as part of ERM’s continued commitment and investment in improving diversity both within their business and STEM fields of work.
The scholarship is valued at $20,000 and is open to undergraduate students enrolled in full-time studies in Information Technology, Engineering (Computer and Software Systems) or relevant double degrees.
Research from the Australian Office of the Chief Scientist indicates that women account for just 16 per cent of the current STEM workforce. Some Australian universities record only a 6 per cent female admission rate in some STEM courses.
General Manager Solution Delivery Steve Nichols said technology was at the heart of our ERM’s business and the transforming energy industry needs talented and passionate people with the skills in IT.
“We aim to help equip future generations with the technical and commercial skills to make a meaningful contribution to Australia’s transition to more and cleaner energy.”
“Our scholarship program with QUT provides an opportunity for undergraduates to gain real on the job experience to become technology leaders.
“ERM offers a flexible and supportive working environment, with roles that can develop lasting and relevant skills that will help them thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment,” he said.
As a scholarship recipient in 2019, Jacinta Roberts Undergraduate Software Engineer at ERM Power said the opportunity to work with ERM Power aligned closely with her own passions.
“Working at ERM Power has been one of the best decisions of my life. I love coming to work knowing that my company is making a positive difference to help businesses reduce energy cost, consumption and emissions. ERM’s vision and culture are a great fit for me and the team genuinely cares about my learning and professional growth.”
