Energy Grants, Rebates and Certificates
While Australia’s energy landscape has become increasingly challenging to navigate, there are now more opportunities than ever to offset project costs.
Energy efficiency funds and rebates are designed to support the transition to a low carbon economy, helping businesses overcome financial barriers preventing or prolonging energy efficiency upgrades.
A range of Australian Federal and State government certificate schemes and grant programs are available to assist companies with funding their energy efficiency projects.
ERM Power can provide your business with information to assist with understanding funding guidelines, and help you to realise opportunities to offset project costs, as an important step on your energy efficiency journey.
Many of our engineers are trained in the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol – the world’s best practice energy measurement and verification methodology. They also have the internationally recognised Certified Measurement and Verification Professional qualification.
NSW Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs)
ERM Power is one of the largest creators of ESCs for large industrial operators and has returned more than $50m to our customers in grants and certificate income since 2009.
We specialise in creating Energy Saving Certificates under the PIAM & V (Project Impact Assessment with Measurement & Verification) methodology for large energy users and have extensive experience across a range of electrical and gas efficiency projects.
ERM Power is accredited to create Energy Savings Certificates from all the following project types:
VIC Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs)
ERM Power offers a full Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEEC) creation service for the wide range of energy efficiency projects undertaken in the commercial and industrial sectors in Victoria.
Our streamlined certificate creation process minimises the time and paperwork required from your staff and returns certificate revenue to you sooner.
ERM Power is certified to create VEECs for:
Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs)
The Federal Government established the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) which provides Australian businesses with an incentive to reduce emissions and earn Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs). Participating businesses can earn ACCUs by undertaking eligible activities that achieve emission reductions that are ‘additional’ to normal practices.
Several activities are eligible under the ERF scheme. One ACCU is earned for each tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2-e) stored or avoided by a project1.
ACCUs can be issued for project activities using various methodologies. ERM Power has undertaken projects that have earned ACCUs using the Industrial Electricity & Fuel Efficiency (IEFE) and Commercial & Public Lighting methodologies, with abatement estimated based on the difference between emissions or MWh consumed with and without the upgrades in place.
Government grants and other financing
Ever-changing, administration intensive and often hard to navigate, it’s understandable that businesses often find it challenging to prepare and lodge an application for government funding.
If you want to implement a business energy efficiency project without making the full investment up front, there are a range of funding options that may be available. With our finger firmly on the pulse of the government grant and funding options, ERM Power can point you in the right direction.
