Energy Grants and Certificates: Maximise savings, minimise payback
While Australia’s energy landscape has become increasingly challenging to navigate, there are now more opportunities than ever to offset project costs.
Whether it’s state-based certificate schemes, federal government grants or long-term financing, ERM Power can identify which energy opportunities are most lucrative for your business, and make it happen.
Many of our engineers are trained in the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol – the world’s best practice energy measurement and verification methodology, for which they are also required to have the internationally recognised Certified Measurement and Verification Professional qualification.
NSW Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs)
ERM Power is the largest creator of ESCs for large industrial operators and has returned more than $50m to our customers in grants and certificate income since 2009. With more approved methodologies to create certificates for large industrial energy users than any other supplier, we specialise in creating ESCs under the PIAM&V methodology.
Bearing not only the workload of ESC creation, but also the risk, ERM Power is only remunerated once the certificates we’ve created are generating revenue for our client – no upfront fees.
ERM Power is accredited to create Energy Savings Certificates from all the following project types:
– Natural gas, steam, and hot water improvements
– Whole site improvements using metered baseline approach
– Compressed air optimisation
– Refrigeration projects
– HVAC/chiller upgrades
– Lighting projects
– VSDs, fans and motors
– IT and date centre management
– Transformer upgrades or replacements
– Water and wastewater projects
– Voltage optimisation
VIC Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs)
ERM Power’s Melbourne team offers a full VEEC creation service for the wide range of energy efficiency projects undertaken in the commercial and industrial sectors.
Our streamlined certificate creation process minimises the time and paperwork required from your staff and returns certificate revenue to you sooner.
As with our NSW Energy Savings Certificates creation, there is no upfront fee and our success-only remuneration model ensures there’s no financial risk to your business for participating in the scheme.
ERM Power is certified to create VEECs for:
– Project based activities (PBA) including gas burner replacements and steam efficiency – more broadly, this may also apply to any project with a demonstrable relationship between energy savings and an independent variable.
– Refrigerated display cabinets
– Refrigeration fans
Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) – Climate Solutions Fund
The Climate Solutions Fund is a Federal Government initiative designed to reduce carbon emissions. Energy projects that avoid carbon emissions may be eligible to create Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) every year for up to seven years.
ACCUs can be created under many methodologies. ERM Power has created ACCUs using the Industrial Electricity & Fuel Efficiency (IEFE) and Commercial & Public Lighting methodologies, with abatement estimated based on the difference between emissions or MWh consumed with and without the upgrades in place.
Government grants and other financing
Ever-changing, admin intensive and often hard to navigate, it’s understandable that most businesses lack the resources needed to prepare and lodge an application for government funding.
With our finger firmly on the pulse of the government grant space, ERM Power understands every detail of the various state-based and federal funding options on offer, and which scheme will deliver the best savings for your operation. If you want to implement a business energy project without making the full investment up front, there are a range of other financing options available.
